USS Lexington Museum to Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II

Corpus Christi-The USS Lexington Museum will honor the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with live streaming a special commemoration ceremony, hosted at the Battleship Missouri Memorial, tomorrow, September 2nd, in Hangar Bay II, from 2:00PM to 3:30PM. The ceremony is free and open to the public to attend.

This milestone marks eight decades since the formal surrender of Japan aboard the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945. As a proud WWII-era aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington (CV-16)—also known as “The Blue Ghost”—serves as a living monument to the service and sacrifice that took place.

In addition to the live streaming, showings of “Bob Batterson: A 100-Year-Old Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Story” and “Surrender on the USS Missouri” will play continuously in the MEGA Theater, throughout the day, tomorrow, September 2nd, from 10:00AM – 4:30PM.

From Friday, September 5th through Sunday, September 7th, the Museum invites the community to join in reflecting on the courage, resilience, and unity that defined America and its Allies during the war, with discounted daily admission prices at $8.00 per person, for all ages. Tickets can be conveniently purchased on the day of the visit, directly on the ship.
