USS Lexington has long been rumored to be haunted…but when rumor becomes reality, things really start to get scary. With over 4,000 compartments throughout the Blue Ghost, many haven’t been visited in decades. And that’s exactly where your journey begins. “Face Your Fears” takes you on a terrifying path into an abandoned area of the ship, leaving clues to help you find a missing group of ghost hunters aboard this WWII aircraft carrier. What is an escape room?

An escape room is a physical adventure game—reality entertainment—in which players solve a series of puzzles and challenges using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players are given a set time limit to unveil and complete the secret mission, which is hidden within the rooms.

Are visitors actually locked in the escape room?

No. Our escape rooms are simulated experiences. The doors are not locked at any time and visitors are free to leave the escape room as needed.

Is it safe?

Visitors to our escape rooms are monitored by our onsite Game Master via live-feed video cameras at all times. Our escape rooms have been inspected and approved by the fire marshal.

How long does the escape room experience take?

The entire escape room experience takes approximately 90 minutes from start to finish.

The game itself is 60 minutes. The other 30 minutes include a review of instructions, watching a safety video, signing a safety waiver and taking a group photo at the end of the game.

How many people are in the escape room at one time?

Our escape rooms can accommodate up to 10 people per session.

Please keep in mind if you do not book a PRIVATE game, other people can book the same game until it is full with 10 players.

How much does the escape room experience cost?

The price for the escape room experience is $38 and includes one mission plus admission to the museum.

What are the days and hours of operation?

Our escape rooms are open for booking at various times during and after regular museum hours. Please select your time slot and book your experience by clicking here.

How do I book an escape room experience?

To ensure availability, it is best that interested visitors book their Lockdown On The LEX experience online, before they arrive to the ship. Please be prepared to show your online or email receipt at our Admissions Booths for entry. Book now!

Can I wait and book an escape room experience while visiting the museum?

While we recommend you book your escape room experience online in advance, walk-in visitors are welcome based upon availability.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! We offer discounts to military members, and overnight guests who participate in our Camp LEX youth program. For discount codes, please contact the Sales & Marketing Office at 361-888-4873, Ext. 311 or 321.

Are there any age limits?

Our escape room experiences are designed for adults and recommended for visitors age 12 and older. Visitors aged 12-15 must be accompanied in the escape room by an adult, and all visitors under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver at check-in.

If you would like to include children under the age of 12 in your escape room experience, you will need to book the entire room for your party. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Your total price will be $350 to reserve the whole session, for up to 10 players.

How can I book a birthday party or corporate team building event?

First, you need to book your escape room experience online to ensure that the date and time you desire are available. Then, if you are interested in adding catering or special accommodations, you should call our Sales Office at 361-888-4873, Ext. 305 to make arrangements.

Are there any physical restrictions or limitations?

Because our museum is on an aircraft carrier, visitors should expect to climb ladders and navigate narrow passageways in order to participate in our escape rooms. Visitors who have limitations including claustrophobia, epilepsy, stroke, or anxiety issues may want to consult their doctor before participating in an escape room experience.

Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket if I can’t make it to my reserved time?

Unfortunately, because you are buying a ticket to a live event, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges. All sales are final.

Can we play the same game twice?

Absolutely! We welcome you to come back and try to “escape” a second time…but, please, no spoilers! We want all of our visitors to enjoy their escape room experience.

Where can we park?

Parking is available on the street and in the USS Lexington Museum parking lot. Tokens for the LEX lot can be purchased for $5 at the Admissions Booths or you can pay by credit card at the gate on your way out.

Are there any nearby places to eat or drink?

The Mess Deck Café at the USS Lexington Museum is open during regular business hours and there are several restaurants within walking distance on North Beach. Keep in mind, however, that no food or drinks are allowed in the escape rooms.

Any tips or suggestions?

The surest way to “escape” is by sharing information openly with everyone else in the room. Talk to each other and work together to solve the puzzles. If you discover new information, be sure everyone in the room knows about it. Good luck!

Can we book a private mission to have the room all to ourselves?

Yes! For those guests who are interested in playing only with your own friends and family, you can reserve the entire room at a discounted price. During the checkout process, click the box to indicate your selection for a private event. Your total price will be $350 to reserve the whole session, for up to 10 people. Don’t forget–this also includes admission to the museum!

Please keep in mind if you do not book a PRIVATE game, other people can book the same game until it is full with 10 players.
