HONORING HEROES ABOARD LEXINGTON

 

Corpus Christi – In observance of Memorial Day USS LEXINGTON CV-16 has many activities planned to honor America’s fallen heroes.  As a tribute to the five United States Navy pilots who were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for combat action in World War II a very special display of two Medals of Honor with Military Guards will be available for viewing on the 2nd deck.

10:00 AM – Warbirds and Warships – Scale Model Gallery Exhibit Opening.

An exhibit of epic proportions and five years in the making is opening to the public. Lovers of warbirds, warships and the stories they represent, will be amazed by these scale model works of art.  With over 370 award winning pieces on display, this is the largest publicly exhibited model collection in Texas.

12:00 PM – Flag Retirement Ceremony 

Boy Scout Troop 6 from Brownsville, Texas will conduct the ceremony on the Flight Deck.  The public is invited to bring flags for this special ceremony.

2:00 PM – Memorial Day Ceremony

A commemoration ceremony and laying of a wreath will be presented for visitors as a tribute to the men and women who fought so bravely for our freedom.
